Republic County Hospital would like to introduce you to our expanding physical and occupational speech therapy departments. Physical Therapy

Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapists provide services to outpatients, inpatients, acute and home health patients. We help children and adults acquire daily living skills needed to engage in meaningful activities, ranging from self-care such as dressing and feeding; to work, school, and community pursuits. Our occupational therapists also provide consultations, evaluations, and a variety of other treatment services, including:

Speech-Language Pathology

Our speech-language pathologist, Mary Anderson, MA/CCCC-SLP, provides treatment for inpatients and outpatients at Republic County Hospital. We offer speech therapy for individuals with:

  • Difficulty swallowing; diagnostic video fluoroscopic swallowing exams are available.

  • Weak oral/facial muscles, imprecise articulation, or poor speech intelligibility.

  • Voice problems such as hoarseness or lack of voice.

  • Memory, attention, or problem solving deficits as a result of neurological impairments including age-related problems.

  • Comprehension and/or expressive language deficits due to stroke, Parkinsonism, or brain injury.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What do I need to bring to my therapy appointment?
A:   1. Health insurance card (and Vehicle insurance card if involved
           in a motor vehicle accident).
       2. Prescription from your physician
       3. Depending on the diagnosis, you may want to wear loose
           fitting clothes or bring shorts and a t-shirt.

Q: I have a question regarding a therapy bill I received.
     Who do I contact?
A:    Barry Bottger at 785-527-6050

Q: Do I have a co-pay at the time of service?
A:     This will depend on the type of insurance you carry.
         We should be able to tell you by the end of your first
         appointment.

Q: Do I need to see my physician before I can receive therapy?
A:     Yes. We need a referral from your primary care or specialty
         physician prior to treating you in therapy.

Q: How long is each therapy appointment?
A:     Most appointments will last 30 to 60 minutes.

Q: How often do I have to come to therapy?
A:     The therapist will be able to tell you after your first
         appointment.

Q: What are your hours?
 A:     8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday7 through Friday.
