Radiology Procedures are vital to better medical care The goal of the RCH Radiology department is to
provide quality and caring diagnostic healthcare services to the community. The
Radiology department is a key component of the healthcare team employing specialty trained
personnel. RCH mammography department is Medicare-certified for performing mammography and is certified by the American College of Radiology. Radiology Staff and Hours RCH maintains diagnostic radiology services 24 hours, 7 days a week. Regular hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 6:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. and Tuesday, Thursday from 7:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. After hours, coverage is provided by an on-call technician. Respiratory: Republic County Hospital respiratory care therapists evaluate, treat and care for patients with breathing disorders, on a one-on-one basis, with sensitivity to the physical and psychological needs of the residents of North Central Kansas. The Respiratory Department is JCAHO accredited and the Blood Gas Laboratory Services is CLIA Certified and JCAHO accredited.
Republic County Hospital Long Term Care (LTC) is a small 38 bed nursing facility. The LTC is adjacent to the hospital where emergency and acute healthcare services are offered. LTC has maintained a deficiency free health survey status since 1996. LTC is JCAHO Accredited. The services offered by the LTC include:

Information contact: At some point in most people's lives, they will encounter a health problem facilitating the need for surgery. At Republic County Hospital, we are able to provide emergency and scheduled surgical services with our two suite operating room and two-bed post-anesthesia care unit, including 24-hour on-call staff. With our staff of Advanced Cardiac Life Support
certified registered nurses, certified scrub technician, anesthetists, central supply
technician, and eight physicians who do surgery on a regular basis, we are able to care
for the pediatric to geriatric patient on a inpatient and outpatient basis alike.
Our staff is able to meet each patient before surgery to review their health history,
previous surgical experiences, and to educate them about their upcoming procedure and stay
at Republic County Hospital.

Some procedures may be done on an outpatient basis in the emergency department under local anesthesia with or without light sedation to possibly facilitate a shorter length of stay and more cost-efficient outcome. We hope to continue to provide more and different types of surgical procedures for the rural population in North-central Kansas and South-central Nebraska. The physical therapy department at Republic County Hospital is active in caring for patients of all ages including acute, skilled and intermediate care hospital patients, nursing home patient and out-patients. Patients are referred from local doctors as well as doctors from outlying areas including Salina, Wichita, Halstead, Lincoln, Omaha and Hastings. The acute care area of the Republic County Hospital contains 25 beds and is staffed by a well-trained, caring nursing staff consisting of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nurses Aids. This staff provides care for patients with acute illness, pre- and postoperative needs, and emergency situations. Specialty nursing is also available in many areas. Republic County Hospital provides many experienced nurses trained in NALS for the care of labor and delivery patients, as well as for newborns. Providing a comfortable, family-oriented birthing experience is a priority. Lactation consultants are available for new mothers needing a little extra support or a few helpful suggestions in nursing their new arrival. Republic County Hospital staffs a Monitored Bed Unit when intensive care is required. This area is staffed by RN's with ACLS training and experience to best serve the needs of the critically ill patient. For the patients returning from area medical centers, Republic County Hospital provides continued care for recuperation from surgeries, strokes, and lengthy illness requiring extended nursing care before returning home. The nursing staff works closely with Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapists to provide the best possible outcome for the patient and their family. Republic County Hospital acute care also provides a variety of outpatient cares in connection with local and associated physicians which include, but are not limited to, the administration of chemotherapy, on-going IV antibiotic therapy, complicated dressing changes, and maintenance care of infus-a-ports. Cardiac Rehabilitation at Republic County Hospital offers individualized exercise programs designed for patients who have had a heart attack, cardiac surgery or who experience stable angina. The purpose of the program is to help individuals with heart disease to return to a productive lifestyle, learn more about heart disease and its management, establish a safe, lifelong individual exercise program and reduce the chances for further cardiac problems.
